The city exploring colour and black and white
Below are some images from city posters that contrast black and white with colour
exploring black and white with colour My original photographs and edits
Developing my ideas for a city poster
edit 1
I collaged the images together using Photoshop, I selected landmarks and the beach to attract people to come to Portsmouth. I adjusted one of the images to black and white to add contrast and because the landmark is historical. I then added poster text. I am not sure about the composition, I don't think it is balanced enough to be my final poster
edit 2
I created this poster using the same techniques as the first poster. I really like the images in this poster, I think the landmarks will attract people to visit the city. The composition is more successful also, all the images are well balanced and compliment each other.
Edit 3
I really like the photograph of the boats and fisher men in this poster, I think this image would make a good post card rather than poster
EDIT 4
I used my contrasting black and white edit and simply added the text, this photo is of the centre of town, shopping will hopefully attract people to visit the city.
edit 5
I really like the contrasting coloured text in this edit.
My final chosen poster
This is my best poster by far, I really like the images and the composition is well balanced. If I was to complete the project again I would try to get even more landmarks in, perhaps Southsea in bloom and more images of shopping and eating in Gunwharf.
